Meet the Top 10 Finalists of the Women 2.0 PITCH Startup Competition

This is our 5th year of the Women 2.0 PITCH Startup Competition and every year the response is phenomenal -- and this year is no exception, especially as women entrepreneurs have DOUBLED over the last three years, according to our recent survey. 

The judges have cast their votes! Here are our Finalists for the 2012 Women 2.0 PITCH Startup Competition - who will be pitching live at the PITCH Conference on February 14 -- listed in alphabetical order:

  • Business Productivity is a channel for business professionals who want to learn how to work smarter and more effectively using technology. Founder and Managing Director Ulrika Hedlund will be pitching on February 14.  
  • Buyosphere is a shopping Q&A Platform. Just ask what you are looking for and the platform will route your question to those who know how to find it. CEO Tara Hunt, CTO Jerome Paradis and COO Cassandra Girard will be pitching on February 14.  
  • DINKlife is a social and services platform for the second fastest growing life-stage demographic in the US - couples without kids. CEO Cory Jones and CMO Katelyn Watson will be pitching on February 14.  DocPons is a healthcare platform for purchasing outpatient healthcare services. Founder Susan Nicholas will be pitching on February 14.  
  • Evo connects busy parents to their child from anywhere in a way that fits their active lifestyle. CEO Avishai Shoham, CTO Ruwan Welaratna and COO Yasmin Lukatz will be pitching on February 14.
  • Hotseat gives college students a space to record practice interview sessions and get feedback. CEO and CTO Connie Fan and CDO Cece Yu will be pitching on February 14.  Kismet is a real time, location based social app for meeting new people. CEO Kevin Stephens and CPO Michelle Norgan will be pitching on February 14.  
  • Perfect Beauty is a community for women based on trusted beauty and self image advice. Founder and President Daisy Jing, Head of Technology Arushi Raghuvanshi, Head of Business Development Son Ca Vu, and Head of Sales and Marketing Karen Alonzo will be pitching on February 14.
  • Prosperity is small business budgeting software for non-accountant types, helping the solo entrepreneur reduce overspending. Founder and President LeAnne Ozaine-Smith and CTO Stuart Thompson will be pitching on February 14.  
  • Tiny Review is like Instagram for Yelp reviews. Co-Founder and Lead Designer Melissa Miranda will be pitching on February 14.

The winning team as decided by the judges on February 14 will receive meetings with top-tier VCs including: 

  • Aileen Lee (Partner, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers) focuses primarily on working with consumer-oriented digital companies. Aileen worked closely with the teams at Blue Nile (Nasdaq: Nile), Bloom Energy, Friendster (acquired by MOL Global), Good Technology (acquired by MOT), Tellme (acquired by Microsoft) and Zazzle. 
  • Mike Maples (Managing Partner, Maples Investments) was recently named as one of "8 Rising VC Stars" by Fortune Magazine for his investments in business and consumer technology companies. Before becoming a full-time investor, Mike was an entrepreneur and operating executive who worked in a variety of senior management roles in high-growth companies.
