Inspire & Mentor with Marie Claire: Mentoring Competition for Young Women
The NextWomen Mentoring Programme is not the only mentoring programme launched recently.
We applaud Marie Claire UK, and in particular its editor Trish Halpin, to have launched a mentoring competition for young women recently, together with the Prince's Trust. The program is called Inspire & Mentor with Marie Claire, and is aiming to help young women achieve new heights in the worlds of business, fashion and beauty, media and science. They will be able to get 4 hours of mentoring over the course of 6 months.
Some of the mentors are:
Marcia Kilgore, 41, founder of Bliss spa, and creator of Soap & Glory and FitFlops
Sarah Walter, 45, director of fashion communication at River Island
Kelly Hoppen, 50, interior designer
Some of the other mentors:
Julie McManus, 38, head of scientific and technical regulatory affairs for L'Oréal
Jo Malone, 47, perfume and scented candle guru
Claudine Collins, 41, head of investment for MediaCom
Dawn Airey, 49, chair and chief executive officer of Channel 5
Kate Bostock, 52, executive director for clothing at Marks & Spencer
Ginny Lunn, 45, director of policy and development, The Prince's Trust
Joanna Shields, 47, former chief executive of Bebo and co-founder of a new venture integrating TV with social media, most recently made vice-president of sales and business development at Facebook
Michelle Mone, 38, founder of Ultimo lingerie
Shortlists of applicants will be compiled by the editors at Marie Claire, matching the individuals we believe will benefit most from this unique opportunity with the mentors best able to help them, and then invited to Marie Claire to meet the team for one-on-one interviews. The successful mentees will then be put in direct contact with their mentors for four, hour-long sessions over the next six months, which may take place in person, over the phone or email, depending on individual circumstances.
Further terms & conditions:
Inspire & Mentor with Marie Claire is your chance to be matched with one of the UK's leading businesswomen for four, one-hour sessions over a six-month period.
Mentoring sessions can take place in person, over the phone or via email, depending on each mentor's individual circumstances.
In certain cases, the mentoring sessions may be conducted by a mentor's colleague.
Travel expenses and any other expenses incurred during the scheme are the responsibility of each individual mentee.
By signing up to the scheme, mentees agree to participate in any relevant publicity regarding Inspire & Mentor.
Mentors and mentees will be matched at the discretion of Marie Claire.
