Start Up Presentations at The Next Web: Second Day Overview II
On the second day of The NextWeb conference, starting entrepreneurs appeared again on stage with impressive pitches. A video with loud music is almost a must at any presentation.
Yellowbird started in which they promised to rock the world of the traditional film industry. Aha, a disruptive product, a requirement to be succesful it seems. The product is a interactive 3d life streaming real life video. Business model is B2B.
Then came Huddle, which is hardly a startup, and you can use their product via linkedin. They just won a RedHerring Award. A very smart presentation.
Prezi, is the new promise for uber-stylish powerpoints. Its webbased, but you can buy it for on your desktop for about 119 Euro per year. It got a huge applause.
Klomptek is aimed at big companies where employees cannot be trusted to use their time, and in particular their phone, for business purposes only. Its product tracks your calls, and will cut you off and punish you when 'you call your wife' with your business phone on your way back home. Already many corporations have shown an interest.
Finally came Quicktv, which had a model presentation:
- What is the problem?
- What is our solution?
- Who is it aimed at?
- How do we make money?
- Why are we here on stage?
The problem is that videos are always the same, and cannot be manipulated, Quicktv can! It connects videos with RSS, websites clicking, voting polss. It's aimed at publishers, and makes money through subscriptions. They were looking for betausers, enterprise clients, press opportunities and white label partners. A lot of high energy in the presentation.
And again, I am so sorry to mention, but no female internet heroes on stage.
