10 aspiring business women were successfully matched to a mentor by FreshIdeasEvents this month. Aspiring businesswomen from across London entered a pitching competition for a chance to be paired with a business veteran that could offer them relevant advice and guidance on setting up or further developing their business. FreshIdeasEvents announced the winners of the competition this week in a ceremony at the BT Tower.

Some of the women with internet ideas that were matched were:

• Michelle Peers

Michelle wanted to cater for people who are passionate about socialising and dining out. Thus she set up Socialite London, an exclusive online members club,  where members can host dining events at their favourite London restaurants and invite other members of the club to join them there.

Michelle was matched to the founder of Everyclick.com, Polly Gower. Polly founded Everyclick.com, a search engine that enables consumers to give to any UK charity in the way that they want.

• Irene Okoro

Irene had a plan to set up e-business blackbrides.co.uk.  She was matched to the MD Business Enterprise Technologies, Saima Butt. Saima has a BT Local Business Greater London North West provides telecommunications and IT services to small businesses.

• Paula Wynne

Paula founded Remote Employment, an business dedicated to home based, flexible and remote working with professional positions, full time and part time vacancies.

Matched to: founder of SimplySwitch, Karen Darby. Karen founded Simply Energy Ltd, offering consumers a comparison and switching service for gas and electricity. That business was later sold and become known as SimplySwitch.
