Divas in Business
A diva comes well-heeled, says Jane Kenyon, a serial entrepreneur, co-founder of Well Heeled Divas.
This organisation is dedicated to empowering and inspiring business women to step up to entrepreneurship, wealth creation and wealth contribution.
Jane was speaker at yesterday's 1230 women's company networking event in London. She was invited to talk about how to bring female values into business, how women can take their place in the economy, and how to make women think big.
Having had a successful corporate career and eight businesses over the past years, Jane is well-placed to talk about the possibilities of business women in the United Kingdom. She talked to thenextwomen about what Well Heeled Divas does and why it matters.

Why do you help make women think big?
There are two many women out there staying small, staying in self-employment, not making the next move. The number of businesses run by women is only 15 % in the United Kingdom. Women are behind men by about 50 % in terms of entrepreneurship.
Why is that?
Fear of failure, fear of debt, and the way women treat their business. They talk about it as their baby. There are lots of reasons, but they are all in the mind. You can spend days, weeks and months teaching someone how to put a business plan together, but unless they believe they are capable of delivering that, it is a waste of time and money.
How do you go about helping women to think big?
We are about getting women to get rid of what is limiting them. We do not run how- to workshops, we are all about mindset; getting over fear, helping women define their passion, their values, and help women put goals together to make that happen big.
We deliver workshops and facilitate peer groups, we put together packages on entry and wealth, we do a relationship program, we do peer group development where we put female entrepreneurs together who may be in the same stage of development. And then we coach one to one. We also are about to launch an online community.
How do you use the internet for your business?
Our online activities supports our offline business. The internet we use to promote and generate a lot of our interest. But we will also be setting up on online community, we will have online products, we'll do podcasts, we will do online teleseminars. In a way we will have an online and an offline business.
The internet is also a way to get access to people in the organisation. I can not physically go everywhere, but I can do podcasts. We already do teleseminars. That's our next stage.
How did you come up with the name Well Heeled Divas?
I wanted something that was really sexy and sassy. Because one of my passions is to encourage women to be in their female energy. That is where it came from.
How did you set it up?
We have funded Well Heeled Divas ourselves, then after six months we got a loan, and now we are going out for investment.
How do you differ from other women entrepreneur organisations?
We don't do networking events, we don't run how-to workshops, or have regular lunch meetings. We are more of a personal development organisation.
