Jewellery deal
AstleyClarke.com, the online luxury jewellery business has received £2.75m from venture firm Index Ventures to help improve its systems and infrastructure, and grow its customer base. Consequently, there are various jobs to be fulfilled.
Bec Astley Clarke's, which we mentioned in our article on female entrepreneurs in the UK, established AstleyClarke.com in 2006. It offers customers in Europe, the US and the Middle East access to more than 50 bespoke jewellery brands.
After this round of financing, Danny Rimer, one of the partners of Index Ventures, will sit on AstleyClarke.com's board of directors. Within Index Ventures, it was Saul Klein who spotted the company while he was founding partner of The Accelerator Group. Besides being an active seed investor in Astley Clarke, he invested in both US and European start-ups including Moo, Netlog, Dopplr, Mashery, Daylife, and Last.fm (CBS).
