Women highflyers networking

These comments are not part of a restaurant review, nor do they refer to a speed dating event with eight women, they are the product of a trend reported by trendwatching.com taking hold of the business travelers scene the past year: women's networking.
Take the Global Dinner Network, a network founded by German businesswoman Tanja Lindmeier. One day she was sitting alone in her hotel room while on a business trip to a foreign city and thought 'What can I do to make my time here more enjoyable? Surely I'm not the only woman having room service alone? I want to go for a run but I don't know which areas are safe here.'

The result was an international network allowing business women to meet up wherever in the world for a run, for dinner, to share travel tips or to network for business.

Convinced that staying in your room while travelling for business is no good? There are other examples too: networking site Ladiesaway, for example, founded by Ray Lehky, helps to match up travelling businesswomen who are staying in the same hotel or neighbourhood.

A recent article about the networks in this article, stated that the Global Dinner Network has now 2,000 members! http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/07/business/businessspecial/07NET.html?_r=2
